Linux Distro On-Line Petition

As silly as it get's, but it's up and got 120 votes so far. These petitions don't do shit, but never-the-less they do act as an indicator of current feeling amongts the Ut3 server admins and some players.

I think you need to consider the following; They wil not loose a big chuck of their user base. They will only loose the PC end user. The console sales of this game are expected to dwarf the PC sales.

You don't need a Linux Distro to run a server for the consoles, you need just another cosole to run the game as a server.

This petition will not change anything. We should be considering a class action for misleading advertising and it's effect on the end consumer in the final purchase. Because clearly Epic have misled us and those are grounds for legal action. But the plaintiff needs to be a US resident. This can be done, but requires great organisation.

So anyways... be good if joos could head over there and drop a vote in, if anything, so as we can get some numbers on the issue.

Well, just a quick update, it seems the word on the street is there will be NO linux distro. Epic have gone 100% console. As that's were the real money in the market is.

Dunno there just rummors, there's alot of speculation flying around, but this one rummor is persistent, so we will have to wait and see.

If there is NO Linux Distro then we can no longer be hosted at Ozforces and therefore loose our Teamspeak channel as well.

I don't know what to do at this stage. I'm really not looking foward to working with a new host on bugged out fucked as fucked can be Windows Servers. Especially when Epic have not done a Web Admin interface to manage online servers. (Again you don't need a webadmin with Console servers).

So at this stage, I'm open to suggestions.

Well ProAsm is developing his brilliant voting mutator, UT2Vote for Ut3.

If that's released, it will make admining the server much, much more manageable. i got a feeling hes going to really pull out all the stops and make up for alot of epic's mysterious mistakes. I really hope that is the case, because then Ut3 will be stable online regardless of OS running on the box.

So we could always retain the Ut2oo4 server on Ozforces, thus keeping the Teamspeak channel and perhaps find a Windows based host for a small 16 slot server for Ut3.

BUT remember, if the online player numbers do not improve, who are you going to play against? You need to consider it's cost effectiveness, if the online numbers remain this low or get worse.

ffs... what a fucken mess this release has been, utter fucking mess...

At this stage I don't know, but going console is not an option i would think. Just wait it out a while longer and see what happens in Jan/Feb 08.

But ur right - make no hasty decisions until after Jan/Feb next year - wait until after christmas to see whether the player numbers jump as all the kiddies get ut3 as a present. If player numbers don't improve though, we r far up shit's creek, and with no paddle....

This is ghey.  Even I am looking for ways to keep myself entertained other than UT3 cause the online experience is a lotto for me to having a good time.  I can't stand full FFA servers, and I can't find any other server that is populated.

If there is no Linux I would consider canning the server all together.

as slow as ut3 is its a lot better than ut2004
most of the time its got 2 full dm servers and 2 warfair servers going and the 1v1 server is always full too.

And gammo, nothing is wrong with it, its perfectly fine to be a schizophrenic, seething, frustrated individual - only problem is that it greatly reduces ur chances of functioning correctly in society, maintianing relationships, maintaining employment, or simply having breakfast without demolishing ur kitchen because u've run out of cornflakes.
