It was complicated to setup custom resolutions and refresh rates.

There is really no differentiating between a legit copy with a manually typed in wrong key and a hack attempt.

Microsoft and its products are so dreadful, why is there a huge demand for stolen copies of Vista, XP and Office?

Here is the info.
Vista Brute Force Keygen
1. Make a backup of C:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs
(in case the keygen works, replace it back with the original)
2. Replace slmgr.vbs in C:\windows\system32\.
With the one from the zip-file
If you have problems with permissions, select file
Go to Properties
Take Ownership
Then change Permissions.
3. Write down your partial or entire productkey.
You can check your key with "magic jellybean" included in first file.
4. Goto Start > Run, type "cmd" and OK.
Now type "C:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -ipk generate".
A process called "wscript.exe"
Will start and can take quite a lot of CPU resources.
It will check aprox. 10000 keys every 30 minutes.
5. Now the waiting begins.
It can take very very very long before you get some results.
6. After some time (hours, days) check your product key with
"magic jellybean"
Again to see if it has changed.
7. If your serial has changed try to activate Vista by going to
Start > Run.
Now type the command
"C:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -ato"
Compleat!
This keygen has been reported to work for those who are lucky.
