for those out there with a Nostromo Speedpad, here's a little interesting thing i found out today. . . .

like sometime ago, my settings in my ini file were corrupted by some online file on some server i musta joined . . . any way i been suffering from indiscriminate profile dropping from the Nostromo usually in the middle of a game ::grrrrrr::

i hate reading manuals or directions, never do . . . i am one of the peeps just wanna turn a thing on & it goes . . . hence i put off the big uninstall & reinstall for months

well this morning i knew i had to take the plunge so went in into control panel to uninstall the Nostromo & its drivers . . . now it gave me a number of options one of which was REPAIR . . . i mean i was deliberately trying to avoid the OS reinstall that u had to do

to my surprise after pressing "repair" a few times (u know like u do when u fdisking ur MBR) and presto . . . works perfectly (well fingers crossed)

Did u know it had a "repair" function, gammo?

Azzie, you only need to repair the MBR (Master Boot Record) when windows DOESN'T boot and gives you the error "Can't load NTLDR" (or something like that).

All the MBR does it, it tells the system where NTLDR is, and it's that that loads windows up.

As for the repair feature, yes, it's quiet handy. I'll use that before I'll format. Mind you, I've formatted over 100 times with ALL the computers I have.

well yer i was surprised to get to try & unistall the nostromo & it gave me that option to "repair" . . . seems to have done the trick too (ffs i have been putting up with shit settings for months now)

as to the MBR well i no geek but i had my share of trojans , viruses etc and one does need to fdisk the MBR several times to ensure that the gremlins have disappeared, before u reformat . . . i was merely using it as an analogy in this instance tho .. . sorry if i confused

i merely meant it was 1st time i found harware of this sort with a repair option

and gammo if u aint got a productive comment, leave it ::lamearse::
