I keep trying to convince the wiffy that they are good for ya too.

I think I will print out the linked article and hang it up in the kitchen on display.

:-)

There apparently has been a large increase in elderly people taking up gaming - why? because it's good for their brains and coordination and social networking and bla bla bla

I also seem to remember something about the average age of a gamer is 31 years - up from 27 a few years back last time the study was done - so the myth of gamers being kids is well and truely laid to rest.

All we need now in Australia is for the minister who's holding the whole country to random (Stephen Conroy) to give up trying to force the internet filter on us and destroy our ping times, to finally update his old outdated notion that the government needs to be our baby sitters. He's also the one who refuses to allow an adult classification on games (like what the rest of the world has). Shame one minister can derail the whole process of democracy but that's the system we have here at the moment.

Sorry for getting a bit sidetracked from the original article but perhaps some people are not aware of what's trying to be rammed through the pipeline by the government and how it could affect our gaming...

Thanks Bodon for the original link / post.

:-)

See that's the thing, that's what they like us to think, funny we actually expect them to be our babysitters.

The reality is much like Orwell predicted it's not that there babysitters, it's much more accurate to look at this way;

The Government is here to keep us from reaching our full potential as human beings. They do that with ideology.

In other words:
A government is a thing of occupation, what it does is, it facilitates resource extraction and maximises production. It does not take care of communities, only enought to keep the status quo engaged.

The internet filter is a control device, to keep us docile and distracted from the reality that we are nothing more to the government then numbers on a balance sheet.

Ping times and restriction of freedom are examples of words within the ideological framework that keeps us fighting amongst ourselfs.

True freedom requires the destruction of ideology and it's enforcers. Evolution through revolution.

An easier way to understand this is to look at what actually is the government made up off? Rich white people. There is no middle ground a politician is a negotiator or a broker for the rich on behalf of the rich for the rich against the poor. Who is the poor?

We are of course. The ones consumed and the ones as victims of this dichotomy.

Ah..A bambi post... :D

That Stephen Conroy is a wanker...or as he probably knows bugga all about the 'net' all his 'workin buddies' are fools. 'we' know this internet filter is a scam and a total waste of money which would be better spent on 'our' hospitals and schools etc. I beleive the underlying score with this filter is that the government cannot make money from it and this filter BS is the start of... perhaps.. a way to start making something from it. Who knows.. I wrote a letter to my local MP on this very subject as It was an issue in the local rag. You will be suprised at just how many people wanted and agreed to it..no fuckin idea at all..just locals puttin their 2cents worth in without any idea...basically all the comments was about protecting kids from porn...they just wanted to protect gods children...Well why etc are parents not monitoring their kids whilst on the net? etc etc etc As with video games.....parents dont bloody buy them if they beleive the contents is corrupt...

Welcome to 21st century Australia, a mordern day democratic capatalist communist dictatorship.

All this legislation is nothing more then enforcing copyright issues on behalf of corporations by using public funds.

In other words. Child safety if that was really the issue, then Alcohol, tabacco, pollution from cars and machinery, chemicals, etc... would carry death penalties for it's creation and distribution. (Did you know that 100 million people were legally murdered in the 20th century by tabacco?)

This is nothing more then using public funds to a) kill public dissent against government and corporate rape, you know the rich stealing from the poor and B) protect the financial interest of corporations.

So how many of you think there is still a political solution to this dictatorship?

“Through a combination of additional resources for education and awareness, mandatory internet filtering of RC-rated content, and optional ISP-level filtering, we have a package that balances safety for families and the benefits of the digital revolution.”

what a load of crap. if a family wants saftey they can get netnanny or someshit.

pisses me off no end the strangle hold this government has on education / information....and the whole damn country. makes me want to organize a coup.

but i know that peaple will set up servers overseas to surf the net from with an encrypted pipeline back to us...and we will probably have to pay to get it.

makes me mad. i will be teaching my children the truth. and show them the censorship behemoth for what it is.
