What drives people to play this mod? That's the question I asked myself. On entry of an Instagib server about 10 minutes later this question got partly answered. People who play Instagib are mentally ill.

If you only look at their names and the comments they make in the game my conclusion is almost unavoidable. It seems they have comments like "YOU ******* LAMER" and "CHEATER!!!!!!" binded to a key in close proximity to their hands. But there is more..

When Instagibbers were still "n00bs" and just started to play the game on a normal server they must have thought: "This is way too complicated for me, 10 weapons with 2 buttons each, who do they think I am? Albert Einstein!?" And after a while they stumble upon Instagib. "Hey you can just hold your shoot button and you will eventually kill someone, this is great!"

When they played it for a while under the nick "player" they decide they need a little more original nickname. So they take a part of a title of a really bad B action movie or idiotic TV series and '1337alize' it. This means they unleash the so called '1337' language upon it. This makes their nick unreadable and totally annoying. The main reason Instagibbers do this is because it makes it totally unreadable and unpronounceable to them, and thereby they think it will make them look more intelligent because they don't understand it. While infact it makes them look even more stupid.

The next thing these Instagibbers do is flock together. They decide to join or start a "clan". I would like to introduce the term S.G.F.M.D.G (support group for mentally disabled gamers) instead of "clan" when it comes to Instagib players. This seems a lot more appropriate to me. Their primitive instincts tell them to kill and destroy their rival SGFMDG's. In normal gaming this leads to civilized and fun gaming. While in Instagib gaming this leads to anti-social behavior, cheating and games that are far from fun. I only witnessed a few of these instagib wars, but that's all I could take. Instagibbers use a primitive language that I find hard to understand and follow. I sometimes catch a few phrases from normal English like: "cheater", "you suck", "blow me" and "I own you". By entering these wars I found myself in a dark, simplified universe I do not wish to visit again.

The number one argument why Instagibbers feel their mod is the most "1337" is that you have an equal chance of killing your opponent in a fight. How they came up with this is still a miracle to me. If I have a gun and my opponent has a gun we have an equal chance. But no, if I have a gun and my opponent has a gun and there are several more guns to pick up from the ground the whole gameplay has been distorted and my chances of winning have been significantly decreased. This proves that the Instagib player has no sense of what we call 'logic'. And therefore is incapable to make the logic decision between fun, diverse gaming and boring mindless gaming.

If you play Instagib longer than 10 minutes your brain cells will start to evaporate. The shear simplicity of it instantly lowers your IQ level. I myself made it to 15 minutes before trying to choke myself. I here by would like all copies of UT and UT2003 to have detailed warnings about these health risks to prevent the staggering intelligence of the UT and UT2003 community.
