How Depressing

I woke up today to find a sms from a friend telling me that a school friend had commited suicide. :(
Im shocked and it is very sad cause it wasnt long since I had talked to him(at my 10yr reunion). He was a smart dude with a good job so I just dont get it? :blink:

I had to go to my reunion with everybody there knowing about my past(murder charge)and front up newly clean from a smack habit. So all eyes as you could imagine were on me let alone the conversation.

Tis sad how some people think small things in life are big things and kill themselves over it. I think pressure to ' fit in' to the norm is what does this. Cause if you dont fit in your not normal yeah? :huh:

I know where you're coming from with this, in society this is very much accepted. But myself, I try to live by:

"Everything I do is normal, everything you do is weird" (Something a teacher told my class going back more then five years, but it stuck with me)

Basically you should just ignore what other people think and go with what you feel comfortable with. Notice i say try though...

Noone Ive known has ever committed suicide before so I dont know what that feels like, but Ive had family who've died and I know how hard it is to get over.

Whoa, I'm sorry to hear this.

Hmm, can sorta relate to this, I've had such manical depression once it was probably close to suicidal, and this was only a year ago. While I never made any plans, I know all too well what could've being going through your friend's mind. Feelings of not succeeding in life, being lonely and having a gloomy outlook on the rest of your life, it's dreadful. You're literally desperate enough to do anything possible to end this terrible existence, and those that take thier lives, unfortunately, found no other way.

And unfortunately, other people like your friend don't tend to talk about thier problems. Either they're confused, embarrassed, or they don't want to pass their problems onto someone else.

Hmm, I agree with what you said Maian0, what you said about society's expectations, because I've grown up different from other people. I know pretty well what's it's like to be on the outside of the fence, so to speak.

Nowadays, I'm pretty proud of my differences cause I believe it gives me an edge, and my depression I hope, will STAY a distant memory.

I hope I've given you helpful words on this.

Its strange hearing about school friends who have died. Ive known 9 so far and they all die from doing something stupid like falling off something high when pissed or walking in front of buses,crashing stolen cars or dropping from an od.

This is the first suicide though which is strange cause all the others died from having fun. Well most
