My probs with ICQ are solved...

So it don't suck.. after alll

Just use AdMuncher, an Add killer on webpages, makes then load faster too, cause it replaces the graphical Add with text of your chooice, mines :

FOOKED UP!!!!

and suddenly ICQ is working like acharm again... I got NO adds on the bottom of it.. jsut ma text.. so it don't flood an hang no more.... =]

I didnt even know it did.


As for ad blocking, you can do that without even having a program running by editing your hosts file. Or use a firefox extension. Much faster than running an external application.

I have 2 comp 1 laptop ( pretty decent) and a main comp with a 64 bit XP3500 on an Abit Av8 Mobo 1 gig ddr400 and 6800GT
first auto Update is turned off ( was turned on by default when i installed XP)I don't have spare bandwith to have this on)
Installed sp2 on Laptop went ok
Installed it on Main Machine BSOD at restart everytime.
so I gave up on sp2.
I have Outpost as a firewall and never got any crap..( don't do the naughty sites..lol)
I check updates every 3 months or so, i don't use internet explorer, or outlook express.. I don't have ICQ, or trillian,
I stir away from cracks ( cause of trojans) and I am fine ..
I have msn and despite the fact that explorer's not the default browser it still starts if i check hotmail ( it is therefore necessary for me to patch it from time to time)..
The firewall in sp2 Is a piece of Junk compared with outpost and the shield resident telling me at every reboot that my computer is at risk because auto update is turned off is mildly annoying ( and yu canoot stop that thing).
I think that it is perfectly possible to be safe without using any update from microsoft as long as you a decent firewall and that it is configured properly and that wether yu don't use iexplorer or patch it regularly, either way is fine.
there are as many computer habits as there are ppl..

Considering trillian supports the icq, msn, y, aim, gopher, protocols.. and icq only supports the icq protocol. I think we can see why its double the size

Oh and btw, ICQ is ADWARE because it puts an AOL icon on your desktop, displays banner ads in chat windows, and an ad in the contact list...
