wakko i think it is the cpu but if u got a crap vid card it wont help ya

sooo you gotta balance it a bit like my 3200 + 6600gt is a good match.......if i got a shit hot vid card without cpu oc or faster chip it wouldent go much faster AT ALL!!

on holyshit 1600x1200 i dont drop below 90fps and thats on stoopid maps!!...the ctf one with the blimps ::haha::

lol, im probabyl ressurecting an old topic here, but oh well.

with the mx1000, i havent used one myself, but have heard nothign but complaints about it with using ut2004. lag, and its bulky or something (havent even seen one myself lol) i use a microsoft inteli 1.1a 5 button optical, i have no complaints with it except maybe its a little too small.

and yes, cpu is the more dominant thing for ut2004 performance. i have an athlon64 3000+ and a geforce 6800gt 256mb, and im not nearly getting the potential out of my 6800gt, sirro is getting better fps than me with his 6600gt by the sounds of it.. what cpu you got?

also, regarding athlon64 cpus gades. just be aware of the problems they have with ut2004 when considering your upgrade. heres the deal. if you are using windows xp sp2 you may get the problem, but it seems to only happen with nvidia drivers higher but not including 61.77. it also happens on radeon cards, but as i dont have one, i do not know of any specific driver version that causes the problems.
now the problem is fairly serious, and annoying. when quitting ut2004 nearly everytime your computer will blue screen and reboot. thats almost gaurunteed. also, when going from windowed to fullscreen and fullscreen to windowed, minimizing or maximizing, or sometimes even when loading the game, you will also get the blue screen and reboot. this also happens when you get a normal game crash.

temportary fix is binding an exit key, which is done with "set input key disconnect | flush | exit"

wont stop all the crashes though, just the exiting ones. i am using the 64bit version of windows xp, so i do not get any blue screen errors from ut2004.

Yes, I've heard a bit about the sp2 problem with XP, and that's frankly why I'm not using it. But I didn't know they might be releated to the athlon 64 chip, or graphic drivers.

Hmmmm.

yeah the athlon64 has no problems on windows xp prior to SP2. sp2 has some new features that only the athlon64 take advantage of, so they must be causing some form of trouble.

hmmm, ive only got a socket 754 3000+ but i cant get any overclocking out of it at all... although im total n00b when it comes to overclocking, i had to increase the fsb speed or something, it is on 200mhz (i have 10x multiplier) i put it to 201 and even then it becomes unstable. i think it might be something to do with my ram, as i only have cheap crappy ram, and increasing the fsb increases the ram frequencies i believe.

i cant even overclock any from my 6800gt, i used to have a fx5200 and i got an extra 120mhz out of its memory, but i tried overclocking the 6800gt and it went all messed up, and crashing etc.

although im saving money, and im gonna copy fooky and get a 2nd raptor drive to go with the one i got and raid them. and get a new cpu

lol yeah itd be your ram ive tried cheap ram and it wouldent even go 5 mhz faster than the rating...

az for overclocking your cpu check its temp if its hot it wont budge far i only got 3250 with the NASTY stock cooler on it (stock cooler was 54deg fullload coolermaster was 39)
use realstorm benchmark to load it up fully http://www.realstorm.com/realstorm/downloads.html

if you upgrade your cpu i know ppl who will buy it if i cant cause if you sell it you can put that money toward a faster one again!!

im not positive on my temps, as i have no way of checking cpu temp while my ocmputer is on, only from my cmos when im booting.
this computer is a gradual upgrade from my old computer, i started just buying the cpu, mobo and ram, and using my old hard drive, graphics card etc. but when i bought it cpu temps were about 35 degrees. (this was after having computer running for a fair while after playing games, then rebooting and quickly chekcing temps)

but since i bought the 6800gt the temps do get fairly high, i think around the mid 50's. my graphics card reports as around 73 degrees idle, and as high as 105 degrees while playing half life 2. but ive been told that the readings are false, and is some driver error. i estimate the readings to be about 30 degrees higher than what they really are, based on what temps it used to run at when i first bought it.

as far as upgrading goes, ill prob buy the new mobo, cpu and ram first, but as i will be getting good quality ram this time, i prob wont be able to afford it for a few months yet.

ok keep in touch if u wanna sell some of your old crap

cpu tems should be accessable by the diagnostic program from the mobo manufacturerer...er.... operative word being SHOULD.. check thier site

those temps are unacceptable man ACT on that or sumthin will go bang when u dont have the money to replace it (murphys law). go a couple more case fans possably or replace the cheap fans with some noisy 4500rpm ones
believe it or no some of the fag light clear fans actualy rock ....i got one on a sunday cause thats all i could get and it runs 5000rpm!! fooking good i say
i have 7 fans in mine and 2 are 12cm bastards. :!:

yeah temps are a little high, i have 2 case fans, dunno size, but they only 2500rpm, and i only have 1 running, cause my motherboard only has 1 fan plug, and no shops around here sell the damn adapters. so i will be buying some adapters soon, and some more fans, some faster ones, and ill put them in and get the temps down lol.

would be handy to know what temp my graphics card really is though, hopefully some new drivers will fix the false readings.

Latency in UT is simply unexceptable.

MX510 has ZERO latency.

There is no other alternative. No comprimise.

Actually Gammo dude, I have to disagree.

I bourght the MX1000, and it's the best mouse I've ever used.
And I went from an MX500 to this too.

I don't notice any lag on this at all, if anything, it was a little TOO quick for me, and so, I had to lower my sensitivity in game.

I relised why my accuracy was horse ass too. I had Mouse acceleration on.

Now, when I'm playing, I will try and make flick shots at people. I'm making the right movements, but it speeds up just that bit too much, and I miss.

Now it's off, I'm playing HEAPS better. More so on my MX1000 than on my MX500, which I gave to my bro Mysterio.

controlls 4 fans and has 4 heat probes that u can stick on almost anything...and it beeps at you if a fan stops of something gets too hot. mine has worked flawlessly

oh and it has all different flashy colours (who gives a shit!)
