Just now I played DM... got 2nd highest score (R@ge got 1st) and in the duration of that game i got hit 3 times by the lg.. 3 fooking times... the rest of the time i got nailed by pure spam... just n00bs running around like headless chooks.. spamming....
MINI gun and Link gun and flak and rox and shock spam....

the game is not only s-l-o-w...... the skill level has been n00bed down to such a degree... dat so long as you keep the spam finger on the spam trigger..... and run around like a blind, stoned bat.... you will get akilll....

UT2004 is more noob spam game but i think you have to give it a try on some biger dm maps like antalus.
If its more fun for noobs the game is going to have lots more players like ut and more clans will start,and will have more clan wars to play.
I for one find it hard to get use to the slow weapons change and find it hard to see players i think ttm will fix some things.

I think it says a lot when in the four days since the demo has been released i have NOT been killed by the Lighning Gun !

afaik, theres a UT2003 style mutator in the retail, which puts everything back to the way it was (2003 lg, jumping, etc.). This was done because of the initial plan to make 2003 and 2004 network compatible. You should be able to use this mutator on the new 2004 maps too.
I hate to disagree entirely, but here i go. I think 2004 is better in so many ways BECAUSE it makes the newer players more competitive. So many n00bs left the 2003 scene because they were sick to death of getting lg'd every 5 seconds in antalus. The weapons in 2004 are balanced and makes for a more enjoyable game.
And if you want a 2004 headshot snipe-fest, play InstaGib.
Otherwise, feel free to continue owning up the empty 2003 servers.

I just spent like 3 hours playing UT3.. and matee...... i take back everything isaid about it in the past it PANWS... its fast... its complex and its ultamatly so much more satisfing then UT4... I lost count of the headshoots i pulled......

In uder words.... UT4 now has a LG dat feels and kills like a wet paper bag... a goo dat is praktically uselesss.. a Shock that has a minute splash damage area, an xlock that is been modified for translocking only (you can no longer kill with it.... a thing whih got me out of trouble countless times, wen i just respanw and have no weaps and sum freak is on top of me with 6,000 flak shells)..
but inturn.. the MINI is more powerfull, the LINK is more powerfull (with the LInk you dun aim.. you simply spray with it)... a FLAK with glowing projectilles... a ROX that loads quicker in 3 barrel mode...... and they have introduced this totally insane weapon sahke and mouse acceleration that praktically makes it impossible to headshoott... the one true thing that can be called SKILL!!!!

I havent really been basing my opinion from a comparison of ut2003 and 2004. I see them both as two separate games, with alot of similarities and differences. Based on marketting though, I can see where epic is coming from. They tried to revert UT2003 back to UT classic in terms of some gameplay elements. But is this so bad? I thought UT '99 got game of the year didn't it? :rolleyes:
The 1 DM map that the demo gives us though I dont think is enough to draw a conclusion. The map is very spammy when theres lots of players, but thats because its a small map anyway. I must say I had a great couple of duels on that map though.
Besides, apart from in Assault, we still havent really seen how good the sniper rifle can be. In my eyes I can see ut2004 skill coming from that weapon.
As for onslaught, yeah It is definently a n00b fest, but if you let it all go and dont worry about the skillz it can be so damn fun.
If I could complain about 1 thing in this game, it would be that epic didnt bring the ripper back. Man I loved that weapon. :(

yeah i found dat one by accident.... lol weird sheet or wat.... still dumbstruck at to da logic behind dat one.. why change the most basic of jumps?
But the boost jumps im talking asbout is this:
dodge into a vertical falt surface, then; dodge (away in the oppisite direction) , dodge, jump, jump... dat gives you a WALL boost Jump...
so far in UT4.. I have not been able to do that, regardless of my tming changes, it just simply can not be done...

I like ut2004. I admit its not as quick with the weapon changes(no more quick lg&shock combo for me) but its good for a change. I say give it a chance you 2003 masters and soon none of us will be noobs at 2004. I do like the mini gun sound too,that rocks man! It is just a bugy demo but at least its new with new techniques needed. I will be bold and say*Gulp* UT2004 ROCKS! :unsure:

Anyone can do anything given the same circumstances and experience and time. So, the only thing that makes someone a l33t tosser, is because they have had more opportunity to learn more.
