So what did I do to make my uploads a whopping 6 times faster and my downloads 3 times faster than the original test i performed?...... i here you ask...

Well it would help if the c#nts from Telstra who installed my ADSL here about 6 years ago actually knew what they were doing!

I noticed that my modem line was not connected to the ADSL inline filter/splitter box instead it was connected directly to the phone line via a standard spltter connection. Which means my modem signal would haved been copping interferance!

can't do it in Ireland, cause all the internet cafes use Vista... and it will NOT allow anything whatso ever to d/l....

I told the admin if he could lighten up the security and he told me to f00k off.....

so I'm in England in 2 days.. turns out they got the same Internet infrastructure.. so I'll do the test from there... were I'm staying is private, so I got access for w00teva...

the diff between Ireland & England speeds is about 2Klbs......

this particular connection is wireless and in quite a bad area of service, it's considered a black spot because of the distance to the exchange.... but even then, it beats 75% of OZ broadband hands down....

I said it before and I'll say it again...

Oz broadband is the arsehole of the world......

People down that end of australia seem to be getting pretty good broadband.

Maybe it's NSW and in particular Sydney that sucks.

Still trying to piece this mystery together and whether there is a cure for the packetlag blues.
