Here is just a run down of some of the things I found out.....
You are awarded medals for the objectives you acomplish in Assaut.
Maya 5 tools will ship with 2004, the 2004 demo will not have the edditor.
The bio rife has a new sound and beeps repedidly when it is charging and charged. It’s really nice and seems to be perfect relative to balance and use. The goop has a glow to it now and when you hit some one with it they glow green for a bit.
The Gibs have been enlarged and do not blacken, and when you get a head shot the head has been enlarged so you can see it better (its insanely cool)
Every thing you type with the talk key is sed by a senthisized voice that is realy cool/funny it's a great addition and is realy fun to play with.
The 2004 sight will be up in two weeks or so and will not use the 200# naming system but will be simply unrealtournament.
The Assault rifle grenades no longer need to be charged up to shoot a long way, now they are fired automaticly at full velosity. Which seem to stop spam compleatly
The ball carryor in BR can no longer throw the ball and swith to his Trans-loakator(TL) his TL charge is set to 0 untill some one else touches the ball then he gains 1 third of his TL charge
Players glow Gold or their team color after they spawn or teleport which has a realy nice effect
You can stand on a node your team controls and hit use and a map of the map will apear and you can select were you want to spaw and go their emediatly.
All the weapons have new soundes which are all realy HARDCORE. many complements to whoevers job that was they are GREAT now!!!! Thanks, that was a big isue.
The Ion effect has been change drastically it now gives off an intense bright light and leaves a purple cloud every one wanting the DE effect, you haven’t seen any thing yet
The tank now has a machine gun on top that a second team mate can man (enemy team members cannot get in a vehicle with you)
The demo recorder will be compatible with Divix!!!!!!!!!!
The music player supports/plays MP3 O Fak I wasn't supposed to tell you that yet. My bad
The bomber will be in the form of an air strike it will not be manable.
They have not implemented the capability to repedidly play the same map over again, but you can play assault maps over and over again.
When you shoot and hold your link alternate on an enemy they turn into a skeleton They redid the skeleton to a high Polly more detailed model.
Vehicles smoke and show slight damage and when they explode their pieces hurt you and you can be killed by vehicle that is destroyed but that hasn't exploded.
Vehicles lose health if they are left alone for a long time.

OOH and this
Changes:
Minigun lockdown is GONE, forever! The minigun damage has been increased by 1 point per round, the ROF is the same as 2k3 and it has a new sound set, which honestly sounds really awesome and fierce.
Boostdodging: I'm not sure how to describe how it's different. Just the timing has been slightly modified, i think so that you can't bind it anymore, though i'm not sure. Also cliffyB said something to the affect that they were going to make boost dodging and optional mutator or something like that, but he was quite vague on it all, and it had to with network translation of movement based on the unreal physics and how characters would appear to warp on some clients screens. Once again though, he was being quite foggy in his answer / comment.
Shock secondary: Good news UT1 players. The speed of the secondary has been increased. It's not quite as fast as UT1's secondary, but it's definately an immediately noticable difference compared to the 2k3 snail ball. The damage has not been changed from 2k3 hower.
Weapon switching: Ahhh, another good thing for UT1 players that suck with their hands and cry about fast weapon switching. They've tweaked the game to where there's a slightly more significant delay than in 2k3. It's almost quake-ish in regards to the fact that i believe your gun has to recoil fully before you can switch to another. Time for all the major tdm ppl to change their styles completely, because the days of just shock/lg fast switches are over and gone for good.
ROF of LG: Increased.
Original sniper rifle: Sucks IMO. LG is better. Old school sniper fires about the same as Lg (with the new ROF), the so called "puff of smoke" you've been hearing about only distorts your vision for a sec if you're zoomed and standing still, so it's negligable imo. Also the original sniper does 60 damage body and 120 head.
Goo: Slowed down just slightly, but trajectory and damage are drastically changed. Damage is about half what it was before. Enough to kill you if you just have 100 health, but any armor and a full charge won't kill you. It doesn't go nearly as far anymore, so no more long distance goo kills, lol.
Delayed powerup spawning: Like it or loathe it, it's here, at least in this build. Major powers (Amp, 100, Keg, superweapons) don't spawn when the map starts and are on a delay. The times however are still at set intervals after they're picked up.
Onslaught: HOOOOLY SHIT is this mod fun. Seriously, lol. I don't know if i could see it being majorly competitive, but yeh, it could be, but unlike bombing run, this mod is seriously fun to pub or just play with random ppl on a LAN. The vehicles are all really well balanced in regards to what they're good at and what they're weak against. And the anti-vehicle RL, the AVRIL (i called it the avril lavigne all day) is REALLY affective against all vehicles, so the balance is really great overall in onslaught. Our only complaint was that the manta would decapitate if it hit you at 1mph or 100, so they might address that.
More vehicle stuff: The tank fucking pwnz. The funniest thing of the day was when someone came over the hill with the tank and i pulled out my shield gun and took a direct shell with it. It did 197 damage, leaving me with 3 health and sending me sailing across the map, lol that was awesome. The Raptor which flyies is really fun to drive, and all of the vehicles you can drive either in 1st or 3rd person view which you can toggle with f4 (or a bound key), also you can switch to different seats in multi seat or multiweapon vehicles just by pressing single keys (bindable).
The translocator: Definately nice in CTF now. 6 default charges with a faster recharge rate, and they seem to cancel alot less frequently, but then again this was on LAN. Also there's a GUI option to set your arch on your TL to be UT1's or UT2k3's style.
SG: Every time you fire the SG it takes about 20 SG ammo away, so turning it off and on does indeed depleat it really fast. This is kinda old knews i think, but im just more or less confirming that the change is indeed there.
Assault: Assault is alot more fun for 2k4 than UT IMO, for 2 reasons:
1: The epic programmers i talked to assured me that all the cheese has been removed. The physics engine in assault is different than say even the CTF engine in regards to how it reacts with things like team projectiles and weapon jumping at what not. No cheese for you! 2: It's way more user friendly in regards to directions on what points to attack and what to do. This sounds like a small thing, but if you want a mod to be popular it has to be easily understandable to your common newb. Constant auditory and visual reminders of the goal really help this. Also everything has to be done in order in the new assault, you can't just skip to the last goal or anything.
Maps:
The demo maps i played were 2 assault, 2 onslaught, 2 DM, and 2 ctf. I didn't play BR or DD because those mods are about as interesting as watching paint dry.
The AS maps were one on a train, and one in a Robot factory. Both were fun and blah blah blah, they just looked like good assault maps.
Onslaught, same, onslaught maps are super easy to lay out and create IMO. Both were fun and extremely similar and setup.
The 2 DM maps were a 1v1 map (Albatross) and some other map, which was TDM ish. Both were alright i guess, but really with the return to a more UT1 style of play (at least for DM and CTF), it's hard to judge what is a good map now. The CTF was interesting. When i first loaded CTF-MoonDragon i was like "Gay, this is too big and dark and stupid", but once i jacked up the gama on my monitor and got it looking nice and bright and could see everything, the more i played on the map the more i liked it. CTF-1v1-Joust was a fucking joke. I'm not sure what the fuck they're thinking with that one. 1v1 CTF seems really counter intuitive, since it's a team mod in general, in every game it's ever appeared in, ever, period.
All in all though, i really think there's alot of positive things about this game that can appeal to both 2k3 players and oldschool UT1 players. The demo at this point was REALLY well done, and this is far from a final build. Alot of sounds still needed to be added and the programmers listened to me every time i talked about or had questions about certain decisions regarding the game.

Nice, I truly do hope they sumhow stop movement binds, cause that's as close to a hack as you can get, the idea that you can bind, several complex keystrokes to pull off a complex boost/dodge/jump, with just one single macrobindied keystroke, just plain sux!!!
So unfair..... lol
All up it sounds like Epic havve been listening to the UT community a fair bit, lez hope it treanslates well....
