lol you pay 40,000+ for one of these slugs and you geta 5% Australian car, that's maeketed as the 100% Australian... hahahhahahahahahahahahah

This is the ONLY car in Australia that has been designed from the ground up FOR Australia by Australians........they arent using an overseas platform and then modifying it to try and suit as best it can..............oh no this is a total 100% Aussie design/engineered for us.

Yes they have used an increased number of overseas sourced components.........but you see the car market is so very competive with cheap asian manufacturers offering cars a very low prices that for holden to keep any sort of manufacturing base going here they have to import cheapoer parts just to stay alive.
At least they havent given up completely and gone off shore totaly...they have invested heAVILY with this car and its success means hundreds of thousands of JOBS for aussies.

The public demand cheaper and cheaper cars the REAL price of a new car has actually decreased over the last 10 years ....

You complain because Holden use OS components but the alternative is to use local parts yes thats great but the price of your average commodore would be $55000.00 instead of $40000.0 in turn NO one would buy them ...Holden goes broke and hundreds of thousands of workers suffer ... WD WD !!

I drove one of those.. Disko... then i got into an Audi... u need to do the same, then you will understand

Mate I used to work for BMW FFS I have driven the VERY BEST cars in the world as my company car every day and NOT just on a one off chaufer job. I know what a great car should AND shouldnt do beleive me.

Do you know what 50 ish grand buys you at BMW ffs A 1 series if you are lucky !! Thats a 2 litre 110kw buz box hatch.....

To get something that more closely compares to the SSV you would need to look at a 550i
Cylinders: V8
Capacity: 4,799 cc
Maximum Power: 270 kW / 367 bhp / 6300 rpm
Maximum Torque: 490 Nm

and you would pay 163000.000 plus on road costs......approx $185000.000 on the road..........thats only a lazy $126000.00 differance to the SSV ....

FFS SLUG??????

0->100 in 5.5 seconds on a wet track baby......she aint no slug

It is so nimble, so precise and powerful and so ruthlessly bloody efficient it blows me away.

Honestly man for the money there isnt anything that comes even close to ths SSV.........like i said i have a lot of experience driving luxury european marques and i have to tell you that this new VE is so fuking comparable its not funny..........

If you think that we cant build great cars in this country then i suggest you watch the acclaimed british motoring TV show "TopGear" They have twice reviewed the Holden Monaro (Vauxhall Monaro in Europe) and they absolutely LOVE the Monaro they reckon its one of the Worlds truly great sports cars!!

Plus it looks so FN HORN!!!

enought said......

about the jobs... Brazil is using our tech to make ethatnol cars, there looking at a trillion dollar business in less then 10 years...

and they started from scracth, with even less resources (Industrial) then we currently enjoy...

ok u stick with your ssv guzzle guzzle wat ever....

I supposse since you so happily endorse the self indulgent burning of carbon fuel, that you so also conciesly make up for it by buying the balance in Carbon Credits?

right?

i mean... i was talking about the future for my son and perhaps the future of his sons and the earth / planet we live in.... i was not to concerned with our "decmocratic" perks..... one of wich Mr howard seems to have suscessfully put into many an Australian, the right to polute the planet, per capita, like no other country on Earth.. i guess he means we all deserve it....

yes it is a learning curve... to find a balance that works...

as much as i like the look of the commodores and fords
i will never buy one.
The look greate.
The go good.
And the a good value for money.
but why are the half price after 2 years because the brake fuck down all the time.

had a commodore ss was more in the work shop than on the road fuck that.

My brother got the new falcon ute with in 6 months the changed 2 transmisions the diff and fixed the computer on board 3 times the day the warenty expired he traed it in for a toyota.

oh and i know the head mechanic for holden in nsw and his son the test drive all new commodores for 6-12 months and do reports.

I say go for Japanese cars like honda, toyota if you going to keep it for a long period of time.

So how many Carbon Credits does it take to own and run the VE SS?

Carbon credits certify the removal of carbon dioxide from the air. Each carbon credit is associated with the removal of a single tonne of carbon dioxide from the Earth's atmosphere. There are many different kinds of carbon credits.

You can do this for the cost of one day's petrol for that fucking monster of a car.

OH FFS!!!

This car used 14 litres per 100 km travelled city/highway travel and on the highway it uses in the 9 litre/100km range less than a lot of 4 cyl cars FFS!

I travel a grand total of 8kms a days 6 days a week 4k to work and 4 k home again. I live 3 km from the city so i dont have far to travel when i go out on the weekends and such.

I am contributing far less polution using far less resources than most people thank you very muchh.
