Hey Lads.
I thought I would throw this one out there seeings UT3 and Crysis are coming out pretty much at the same time.
I gotta say I have been following Cyrsis as closey as UT3 and I am getting very worried. Cyrsis has some very good concepts in it that I think will give it the potential to be very big success in Multiplayer.
It has some major characteristics that could set it apart from other shooters a few obvious being:
1-Nano suit. Allowing 4 different types of limited rechargable resource power ups: speed, strength, stealth and armour.
2-Destructible environments
3-Component damage-you can shoot out tyres but the vehilce will still work. You can shoot the helicopter rotor blade and it will dive etc etc.
If this game (the Multiplayer) is as good as I think it will be then I am worried it might attract alot of my attention away from UT3. I got a feeling that this game will see a more mature following than we see with UT because of the hardware that is needed to play it. I gotta say the Aussie UT fan base sux serious ass, you just gotta look at OceaniaUT to get my drift.
I wanted to chuck this one out there and get some feeling and dialouge on what could possible be a very good distraction from UT for me.
OF course I am going to buy both and wiegh up which one I want to pour my time into and try and become proficient in, heopfully I will be able to do both.
Any thoughts?

Ok ok, perhaps I am over reacting.
EPIC have been in the business for eons and know how to make a good Multiplayer game. That is for sure. They know how to appeal the multiplayer masses and by far the most successful multiplayer schifi game series.
Now the boys as Cyrtek have made one fabulous game, ie FarCry, even though I didn''t finish it. I just can't be asked to finish a single player game these days. However thier multiplayer game was rushed and frankly sucked ass, hence why no one plays it.
Though they are spending more time on thier Multiplayer in Cyrsis it is still built for the Single player experience and therefore has a high risk of being a fad game.
Cyysis is indeed an awsome looking game with great features to the engine. UT3 is also a wicked looking game with differing yet just as many features.
With this in mind I think I would be logically mad not to seriously keep the goal of putting alot of energy into UT3.
Guess I am just getting excited about both these titles.
I just wanna pwn some foos.

I reckon Crysis will play down the line like a futuristic "realistic" shooter. A bit of an updated FEAR, so to speak.
UT3 is, well, an "unreal" shooter.
I hope there will be that distinctive difference maintained in the gameplay. Maybe not...
I prefer the "unreal" shooters personally.
You have to really wonder about Epic a bit tho - delaying the game like they have. They'll be releasing the game late to other anticipated releases. Hell they haven't even said WHEN in November it'll be released. Good luck to them to try and capture a market that'll be busy playing other games.
Hopefully whatever the Onslaught equivalent is will pull some new people in, since these days it looks like fewer people are interested in DM and CTFish sortof games.
Seriously, this may seem a bit harsh, but sucks to Epic for not trying to maintain any sort of hype during the development. All we got was an Official forum that deleted every post and an Official website still showing stuff from years ago.

Yeah, it does seem people are "moving on". FPS games like Doom and Quake started the online gaming, then Unreal arrived.
Nowadays, people either seem to be playing "realist" shooters or playing other games completely.
Here's hoping UT3 brings back a larger playerbase, so us "old schoolers" can teach them how to REALLY play games.
